Greetings, All!  

Tim’s Mom here with your Announcements from Outside the Gate.  Each week, here and on streaming community radio, I update you on the upcoming weekend’s Themes and Special Events for Patrons at your Festival, and others around the world.


Escondido Renaissance Faire (, in Escondido, California

Escondido Renaissance Faire- An Escondido Tradition for over 20 years! Come out and enjoy the past- history live! We bring the past to you twice a year!



The Carolina Renaissance Festival ( has Student Days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, followed by Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights for the weekend

Student Days 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Tuesday: Elementary & Middle Schools, Wednesday: Middle School, Thursday: Middle & High Schools.  Please choose the date that best matches the group’s average grade level.

The Festival will open on three special weekdays to accommodate students and teachers who wish to enjoy a very distinctive field trip opportunity.  Costumed characters delight audiences with staged presentations, village artisans provide craft demonstrations and living history troops, such as The Queen’s Court, bring the 16th Century to life. 14 stages are scheduled with music, dance and comedy acts every half hour.  Craft demonstrations are on-going throughout the day. A major Festival feature is the re-creation of jousting tournaments with knights in armor performing on horseback in the Queen’s Tournament Arena. Our Student Days Program was created to highlight the educational aspects of the Festival and to give school groups a chance to join the fun!!!

Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights Already the Carolinas’ largest costume party, the Carolina Renaissance Festival becomes the place to celebrate Halloween! Enjoy FREE Child Admission with no coupon required for all children 12 and under.

Children and parents alike enjoy the fun and safe trick or treating experience with free treats to be found at over 100 locations throughout the Festival Village. And don’t miss the children’s Halloween Treasure Hunt with Treasure Chest filled with prizes! Stop by the 107.9 The Link display outside the front gate to pick up your treat bags and treasure maps provided free to children each day, while supplies last.

Win Free Tickets for a Return Visit (and other prizes too)! Children and adults are also encouraged to show off their Halloween costumes and enter the Halloween Costume Contest! All costumes are welcome!


It’s All Hallows Eve at the Texas Renaissance Festival (, in Todd Mission, Texas

“Ghoulies and ghosties and things that go bump in the night arrive for some scary good fun in New Market Village! Little goblins will enjoy trick-or-treating throughout the village, while the very brave may dare a trip into the terrors inside Slayer’s Castle. Enter our Halloween costume contest or the Kettle Korn eating contest for a chance to win “spooktacular” prizes.



Ohio Renaissance Festival (, in Waynesville, Ohio, brings its 29th season to a close with Tricks or Treats Weekend (Kids Free)

“Bring your wee ones 12 and under for FREE and enjoy trick or treating around the village. Costume contests for adults and kids and pumpkin decorating for the kids. Enjoy your favorite show, mug of ale, and delicious foods one last time because after the 28th, we’re history ‘til next year!”


Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire (, in Manheim, Pennsylvania, brings its 38th season to a close with Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights III

“Join the good Shire folk for a grand celebration of Autumn and the Harvest in true Mount Hope style! Mystery and mayhem will ensue as All Hallows Eve draws nigh, and the boundaries between the mortal world and the spirit realm grow thin;. some unexpected guests may even be joining the festivities.”




Alabama Renaissance Faire (, in Florence, Alabama, celebrating its 32nd year

The Renaissance Faire has always been a “Free to Enter” event, we charge no entry fee,that has not changed in our 32 years of operation. It is our goal to always remain a “Free to Enter” event. you only need pay for thy food and drink and anything else you may wish to purchase.


10th Annual All Hallows Fantasy Faire (, in Sonora, California

The Original 10th Annual All Hallows Fantasy Faire is a two day all inclusive costume play Celtic New Year’s Celebration! Keeping the All-Hallows tradition this year we will have a magnificent fire show and The Burning of the Harvestman. The Faire is deeply rooted in the beliefs of the Celtic people, but combined with all the fun and excitement of a modern Halloween. Hundreds of visiting creatures and characters from your favorite fairy tales and Hollywood movies will come to life over this fun-filled family weekend! The faire offers many exciting venues to hear live music, enjoy themed food and drink, buy unique items, and marvel at jugglers and magicians. Wear your new or old costume and get into the fun and thrills of the faire! Music is always one of the favorites at the faire and this year will be more crazy & eclectic!


2018 Blackbeard’s Pirate Jamboree – 300th Anniversary (, in Ocracoke, North Carolina, this Thursday through Sunday (5th season)

Ocracoke Pirate Jamboree is an annual, three-day event highlighted by an all-day, family friendly, Pirate Encampment by Blackbeard’s Pirate Crew on Ocracoke. See what Pirate Life was truly like in this true to life 17th and 18th encampment. Wear your costumes and enjoy activities such as: a Scallywag School for Kids, Strolling Minstrels, Sword Fights, Black Powder Demonstrations, The Pirate Bazaar, Beer Garden, and other Pirate activities. The Event culminates with a 3 Ship Pirate Battle on Silver Lake – watch the cannons roar as Black Beard meets his fate.


7th Annual Boynton Beach Haunted Pirate Festival & Mermaid Splash (, in Boynton Beach, Florida

Come join the fun as pirates invade downtown Boynton Beach with swashbucklin’ adventures for the whole family! This FREE event will feature live music, stunt shows, cannons, pirate encampments, live mermaids, kid’s activities, costume contests, a treasure hunt, and much more!


Central Virginia Celtic Festival & Highland Games (, in Richmond, Virginia

Richmond Raceway (Richmond) will once again play host to the Central Virginia Celtic Festival & Highland Games on October 27 and 28. The event has become a Richmond tradition that raises funds for local Richmond charities. Over the past five years, the festival has raised over $500,000.

The Central Virginia Celtic Festival & Highland Games has all things Celtic, including highland dancing, Irish feis, massed bands, piping and drumming competitions, hurling, axe throwing, and harp and fiddle competitions. The Vendor Village is home to jewelry, traditional Celtic food, pottery, and the always popular, kilts. For an additional fee you can participate in whiskey tastings, which includes a tasting glass, instruction, and interactive session on the proper way to nose and taste single malt Scotch whisky.

Event attendees will be treated to the musical stylings of The Fighting Jamesons and Albannach on the main stage. Additional bands will perform throughout the weekend. Since Halloween is a few days after the event, kids can dress up in costume and trick or treat with the various societies who will be attendance.

Friends and family can enjoy this one-of-a-kind event. Tickets can be purchased by visiting Proceeds from the festival benefit the Cullather Brain Tumor & Quality of Life Center, Richmond Raceway Cares, and other local charities.


Inaugural Felixstowe Steampunk Halloween Festival at Landguard Fort (, in Felixstowe, UK

What more fitting setting for a Steampunk Halloween Festival than the most haunted place in the whole region? Dare you take that challenge, dare you come and join the spooky shenanigans? Seances, illusions, magicians – all part and parcel of the entertainment on offer for those brave enough…..


Kiefer Medieval Faire (, in Kiefer, Oklahoma, celebrating its third season

Our theme is Fairy Tales Out of Time, because Time is the one thing that never stays the same, it will always feature in our faire. The underlying theme is “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” as well as any other Time Travelor in Fairy..Rip Van Winkle, Arthur and his Knights and many more.

Lots of new things, lots of old things, check back and read up on your favorite performers and vendors and see if your favorite “thing” will be at the faire!



3rd Annual Feast of the Goblin King (, in Hartville, Missouri, on Saturday

“When the Village of Hart Grove falls to Sleep, see who comes out to Creep. Come join the Goblin King for his Feast!”

The Goblin King will open the portal to his realm at 4 pm. Come join us for a Renaissance Faire done Goblin style. Dine with the Goblin King and his Court at 6 pm. Enjoy the entertainment by the creatures of his Realm until the clock strikes 10 pm when all will end.

You will join the Goblin King and Court for a food and entertainment. After you dine with the glorious Goblin King take a stroll through the Village and enjoy the shenanigans of his subject as they sing and dance the night away.


Please note that the Carolina Caledonian Festival, scheduled for this weekend, has been canceled.
